Welcome to pmm for nurses
pmm-nursing is for all nurses who may encounter children with musculoskeletal problems. It is especially valuable to nurses who work in the unscheduled care settings such as Emergency Departments, General Practice and 'Walk in' centres, other community settings, school health, health visiting, paediatric research, transitioning to adult service rheumatology and for those who support the learning of student nurses.
pmm-nursing has been developed by a team working in partnership with nursing colleagues from community and school health, health visiting, paediatrics, research, adult rheumatology, specialist areas and the student nurse community. Tips on how to use pmm are available.
The aim of pmm-nursing is to increase awareness, knowledge and clinical skills to facilitate care for children and young people with musculoskeletal conditions. Along with essential knowledge and clinical skills, information is structured to address the learning needs of nurses working in different roles and we include useful resources. We hope that you find pmm-nursing useful. We look forward to your feedback; e-survey (see 'pmm for you' in right hand page menu) or 'contact us' (see footer).
pmm-nursing is endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN, 2019). RCN endorsement renewal due November 2022.
pmm-nursing builds on the success of pmm (launched 2014); pmm has wide reach and received positive feedback from around the world. pmm targets medical students, primary care doctors, paediatricians and other doctors who may be involved in the care of children and young people. You may wish to look at pmm as part of your learning about paediatric musculoskeletal medicine. pmm is endorsed by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (2016) to support implementation of NICE guidance for cancer, non-accidental injury and sepsis. pmm was endorsed by the Royal College Paediatrics and Child Health (2015).
